Experienced Estimator Required

We are looking for an experienced and skilled estimator, based in our Monmouth Office, to manage the estimating process from receipt of enquiry through to negotiation of the tender and handing over to the project team.looking for an experienced and skilled estimator, based in our Monmouth Office, to manage the estimating process from receipt of enquiry through to negotiation of the tender and handing over to the project team.
The role will be primarily office based, but will necessitate occasional site visits as required.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Registering enquiry on the estimate register and recording/reporting on progress
  • Allocating priority and incorporating into tender programme
  • Setting up tender folders
  • Taking off quantities from drawings and preparing BOQ if not provided
  • Preparing and issuing material price enquiries and evaluating returns for completeness and compliance
  • Working up rates from first principles
  • Identifying areas of potential risk and ensuring that appropriate clarification and qualifications are included
  • Pricing BOQ’s where provided
  • Timely submission of well-presented and accurate tenders
  • Liaison with clients throughout process with a view to developing relationships and promoting further tender invitations
  • Following up submitted tenders and negotiating to successful completion
  • Monthly reporting of tender returns, values and success rates.

Skills, Expertise and Personal Qualities Sought:

  • Ability to think clearly under pressure and prioritise workload
  • Working understanding of SMM7 and the coverage of measured work items
  • Commercial understanding and awareness – particularly NEC3
  • Practical experience of fencing materials, standards, construction and best working practices
  • Effective time management
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent IT skills and confident use of the MS-Office suite (Excel & Word)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at any one time.

Competitive salary offered subject to experience.Working hours – Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 5pm with an hour lunch break and 30 days paid holiday per year (including statutory holidays).

General Fencing Operatives & Installers Required

Must have full clean driving licence, CSCS card and be prepared to travel and/or stay away during the week (subsistence allowance and accommodation is paid).
